These photos were captured during the European Big Men Convergence in Brussels in 1998 and at the “Weekend International” in Lyon in 1999. My introduction to this world occurred a year prior to the EBMC, thanks to the Internet.

This realm constituted a subculture of big, chubby, husky, and chunky gay men, alongside thin, skinny, or muscled men who admired them (chasers). I discovered the existence of numerous clubs for chubs and chasers worldwide. Fully immersing myself, I participated in both events, delving into the warm, lovely, and affectionate community.

Opting for black and white photography, I aimed for more intimate portraits. The yellow-orangey tone achieved by using daylight color film with incandescent light allowed me to convey the warm atmosphere prevalent throughout the gatherings.
